The media got it wrong

by Christian Grantham - 6:28 am January 9, 2008

As NBC called the New Hampshire primary in favor of Hillary Clinton last night, NBC’s Tim Russert and Brian Williams immediately began talking about some “cataclysmic shift” in voter opinion that “must have occured” in the last day or two. It was as though the picture the media painted was challenged by a different reality and the only explaination was that reality had changed.

Has it ever occurred to Russert and Williams that reality for the people of New Hampshire had not changed and that the media’s exuberance over Iowa caucus victories and confidence in polls was wrong?
