Puppy cam

by Christian Grantham - 9:24 am January 18, 2008

OK, the live webcam is now in the upper right on this page. The camera is 8 year old and is the same camera I used when I created this website in 1999. It’s time for a new one. More and more I’m missing my babies while at work, and I want to be able to watch them from anywhere.

So, I need your help if you’ve been through this with more modern webcams. I’m looking for a good wireless webcam that auto adjusts for low light, allows for manual focus and can ftp a still image to the web so you all can watch the puppies, too. If you have suggestions, can you drop them in comments?

Probably most webcams these days come bundled with software that will permit you to ftp images to the web. If not, there’s plenty of software available cheaply or possibly for free that can handle that. One that I used in the past is Active WebCam. So you probably ought to choose the camera that suits you best without being too distracted about the camera’s ftp capabilities.

Thanks. I forgot the software I’m using is literally 10 years old! It may work just fine for what I need. One thing I find really helpful are the reviews on Amazon.com, too. I’ll jump into those this weekend.
