Tennessee Bloggers For Education

December 18th, 2008 Christian Grantham

I turn 37 years old today, and every single year is exactly the same. Everyone is too overextended with holiday parties, family get togethers, vacations, travel and the general madness that is Christmas. While I enjoy the ocassional dinner party, I often feel the amount spent could have been put to better use.

This year, I have a special request.

I saw Dave Delaney use DonorsChoose to raise money for specific classrooms who have a need. I was one of those donors. Today, I went back to the site and created a donor page called Tennessee Bloggers For Education.

I’ve chosen about four Tennessee classroom projects with relatively small goals to purchase teaching materials that will inspire a literate and educated citizenry in our state.

What I want you to do is get your debit or credit card and give $10 to one of these causes. If you are a blogger you can also put a donor widget on your site for Tennessee Bloggers For Education. You can see one of the widgets I added in the right sidebar that displays your donations.

UPDATE 4:01PM: With 5 donations so far, you have already ensured that classes at South Park Elementary School in Memphis will get the trait writing program “The Trait Crate for Grade 3.” You made this happen!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Great idea man. I’ll be sure to jump in when I’m back to my laptop.

    Thanks for doing this.
