Your tweeters on our teevees
January 20th, 2009
Y’alls inaugural ‘09 tweets were on the mighty Deuce tonight in the 4, 4:30 and 5 newscasts. The video above is a view from the webcam as I go live on-air. Someone in the studio later told me next time to wear another tie, and I was like, “what tie?”
You can see other segments from behind the scenes. These got recorded because I thought my new webcam was broken, and I brought it into work to test it on my work computer. If it worked at the mighty Deuce, then it was probably a driver issue with the laptop at home. That’s what I figured, anyway.
It turns out the camera worked perfectly. It also happens that the boss needed Twitter boy to do a few Twitter pops in your face on-air for the 4, 4:30 and 5 p.m. shows.

Looking good. If you’re going to turn your head to the right like that to talk to Newscaster Man, though, they’re going to have to mike you differently.
Actually, I was wearing a mic on my shirt for TV. What you see in the video posted in this post was captured by a webcam.
I do want to get wireless mics for my own personal use, but I have not figured out how to set up my sound board yet. What I need to do is dig into some research on audio/video cards with multiple ports and try to do it through software instead of a board. I’m just not there yet.
The audio quality was good enough for casual Internet purposes. My concern was about broadcast quality. Since the mic was on the left side of your shirt, I thought it might not be picking up your voice when you turned your head far to the right.
Oh, they were omnidirectional. It could have been anywhere near my head. But the audio quality of the stream is bad. I’ve been trying to figure out my sound board, but can’t get it set up correctly.
