The first day

greenergrassFor the past few days I was asked by various coworkers and friends when my last day was at WKRN, and I constantly struggled with simply saying Thursday.

It wasn’t until this post that I realized what it was about the question that tripped me up. I thought about the title for this post and kept getting hung up on calling it a “last day.”

It’s actually the first day of something special.

This morning when I went into the bathroom to get ready for work, the strangest thing happened. I noticed this look on my face. It was so strange I literally froze for a moment, and for the first time I saw something I hadn’t genuinely recognized in a while.

I think they call it a smile.

I look forward to seeing what you do next. I’m a big fan of all you’ve done with NIT and your Morning Browser videos.

Congrats on seeing the smile. I’ve got to get me one of those.

Hey, thanks you two :) Beth, I was just thinking of you two. I’ll email you guys and let ya know what’s brewing.

Bez, thanks much for the compliment. I have a few meetings to go to decide the next steps for the Morning Browser, but I’ll share here and on the FaceBook group when I can :) Thanks for your patience.

I didnt know you was unhappy at WKRN. I guess the smile would make you feel good inside. I am having the same thoughts about work as well. I am just scared to take that plunge and change jobs right now for I know I am safe at this old one but need to better myself. I will be watching on your sites to see what you are going to end up doing and I know it will be something of the greater good!

I know the feeling. I was released from my job of 15 years on February 5th, and all I’ve done since is SMILE! It’s great knowing I am steering the course of my future!

Kevin, sorry to hear that, but glad to hear things are working out. Are you doing photography?

My leaving was completely my doing. If you look back over the past year there are signs of me preparing for this day.

Opportunities in digital media are much greater in the real world than they are in any legacy media (print, radio and television) today. I can tell a story in a digital medium with infinitely more possibilities and resources than most can at a Television station. That’s exciting.
