Vince and I have two anniversaries we celebrate each year. One is when we met (February 14, 2000) and one is when we held a private ceremony with close friends (April 20, 2002) in Washington. Both come close to each other and are always a nice way to go into Spring. I took a couple of days off with the weekend to spend time with Vince to celebrate.
When we first came to Murfreesboro, we spent a lot of time at Sushin eating sushi as we closed on our new home. In the short time we’ve been here, Murfreesboro has grown up all around the restaurant in the Medical Center Parkway and Thomspon Lane area. This time we tried Asa. We went there after finding out the Japanese who visit Nissan go there. Sushin will always be my favorite, but the Asa experience was interesting. The owner took our picture and said they were putting on their MySpace page.
Besides sitting around recounting the years and gazing into our future together, we stopped and smelled the roses so to speak. We planted the last Red Sunset Maple. We did a lot of yard work over the past four days, as the photostream will tell you. I spread some of the Hens and Chicks and added a Delosperma to the rock garden. I also transplated a couple of the Don Juan rose bushes from the North arbor and replaced them with a couple of spectacular pink Mandevillas. One nice surprise Vince discovered was a ring of pink flower buds appearing on an old cactus we brought here from Virginia.

Perez Hilton will lose weight in 2008. I bet this is the year Perez becomes addicted to healthy eating, more excercise and respect for copyright owners. Happy New Year!
“Last year, when I was on MTV’s New Year’s Eve celebration, they asked me for my predictions of what i thought would happen in the year 2007. And all of my predictions came true! Yes! I said:
- that Britney Spears would continue partying, and boy did she ever;
- that Lindsay Lohan would be hospitalized again, and she was. I think more than once;
- and I said that Nicole Richie would get fat, and she did.”

Y’all, my blog turns 8 years old today! When it first started back in 1999, I was manually entering and archiving my entries like a fool until hearing about Movabletype. I used that for a while and then started using WordPress in 2006.
This site has meant so much to me. It’s been the source of so many wonderful opportunities over the past decade including introducing me to life long friends. Here is to another great year!

Where can I share the latest from Rocketboom or Todd Oldham begging for attention? It’s on ”Kicks,” the latest channel I created for kicks and giggles (click the “Kicks” tab above).
The latest video reminds us of a very important holiday that’s easy to miss as we scramble to celebrate the birth of Santa. Let the light shine. It’s National Flashlight Day.

Today…
The word was created by Jorn Barger to describe what he was doing with his pioneering Robot Wisdom web page. The word was an abbreviation for the “logging” of interesting “web” sites that Mr Barger featured on his regularly updated journal.

or a few days from now…
We are approaching a decade since the first blogger — regarded by many to be Jorn Barger — began his business of hunting and gathering links to items that tickled his fancy, to which he appended some of his own commentary. On Dec. 23, 1997, on his site, Robot Wisdom, Mr. Barger wrote: “I decided to start my own webpage logging the best stuff I find as I surf, on a daily basis,” and the Oxford English Dictionary regards this as the primordial root of the word “weblog.”

or back in April.
Created by the US web guru Dave Winer, Scripting News is sometimes described as the first modern blog, though the term “weblog” was not used in the early days. Flickering into life on April 1 1997, Scripting News is still going strong and is credited with helping popularise RSS and podcasting, too.
