The Button Quilt
Mom stitches a couple of pieces that came undone on this amazing button quilt Grandma made for me and Vince. According to Mom, Grandma’s been hand stitching it from the crack of dawn to late into the evening ever since she started when she came up from Georgia.
Vince I want to look into having this put onto a nice backing with a border and possibly hang it up on the wall. If Mom’s counting is correct, there are 1,989 little “buttons” (circles of fabric folded and stitched into the shape of a button) that make up the quilt.
After she and I came back from picking blackberries, Grandma gave me this nice note she wrote to go along with it.
“Christian and Vince, This quilt is a gift to you both, So happy you found the love of your life. This quilt will always be me love to you both.
This quilt was sewed with material from Grandma Reagan, buttons Aunt Vicky had a few of, and material your mom bought. I sewed them buttons each day until it was done. Your mom helped sew, too. So we all love you both, and this quilt will always be with you both in your life.
Love forever, Grandma”
I will cherish this wonderful gift forever.
