Making News Music City Style

by Christian Grantham - 2:09 pm August 16, 2008

news machinesIf there were a reality show that showed you the typical day in the newsroom, you’d witness a newsroom juggling that day’s stories against limited resources. In the middle of that industry reality is another reality that producers for Making News wanted to film at the Deuce for a TV Guide Channel series.

They called the boss last week and asked him if he’d be interested in letting them come in and film several episodes for the reality show Making News. I went to YouTube and found this video from the Odessa, TX series that focused on KOSA-TV. Here is one from Making News: Savannah. I think that’s just a sip of why the boss said no thanks.

So, for all of you people who hoped this was your chance to spy into the mysterious world of the Alpha Stache, you have been foiled again by the Prince of Darkness.

2008 Prediction: Less Perez Hilton

by Christian Grantham - 3:19 pm January 1, 2008

Perez Hilton will lose weight in 2008. I bet this is the year Perez becomes addicted to healthy eating, more excercise and respect for copyright owners. Happy New Year!

“Last year, when I was on MTV’s New Year’s Eve celebration, they asked me for my predictions of what i thought would happen in the year 2007. And all of my predictions came true! Yes! I said:

  1. that Britney Spears would continue partying, and boy did she ever;
  2. that Lindsay Lohan would be hospitalized again, and she was. I think more than once;
  3. and I said that Nicole Richie would get fat, and she did.”

Perez Hilton’s top 5 celebrity train wrecks of 2007

by Christian Grantham - 11:06 am December 31, 2007

Perez Hilton called 2007 “the year of the Hollywood Girls Gone Wild.” Perez managed to stuff himself into a sturdy leather vest and doled out his top 5 celebrity train wrecks on CBS’s Early Show. Here is the video. I can’t find this list on his website, so here it is with his quotes.

Perez Hilton’s top 5 celebrity train wrecks of 2007

  1. Britney Spears - “She began the year in-style passing out at a club. Shortly after that, went to rehab, left rehab, shaved her head, attacked the paparazzi, went back to rehab, had custody issues with Kevin Federline. I’m only half way through the year and I’m already exhausted.”
  2. Jamie Lynn Spears - “Something is seriously wrong with that family. I blame the mother. The fact that she announced the pregnancy, sold the story to O.K. Magazine for a million dollar. She was 16, but you know what? I do give her credit for making the tough decision and keeping the baby.”
  3. Lindsay Lohan - “Lindsay Lohan was arrested more than once in 2007, was in rehab more than once in 2007. Hopefully 2008 we’ll see her out of jail, out of rehab, but I’m not so sure.”
  4. Amy Winehouse - “The mother wrote a very public, open letter to her daughter, and the father has as well spoken to the media pretty much saying ‘our daughter is a drug addict.’”
  5. Paris Hilton  and Nicole Richie - “They both went to jail this year. They both had issues, but they’re both making strides to be better in 2008. Nicole is going to be a mom. Her baby is due any minute, and Paris is acting and doing this, that, and the other.”

Perez Hilton returns to YouTube

by Christian Grantham - 2:48 pm December 20, 2007

Perez Hilton returned to YouTube just a few minutes ago.

“It’s just so frustrating. It’s like an inconsiderate boyfriend. You don’t want to be with someone who treats you poorly. So I’m not quite sure if I’m going to be making any more videos on YouTube or elsewhere, but I was in the right. YouTube fucked up. I’m back.”

Hilton’s YouTube account was suspended Dec. 18 for alleged copyright violation after Hilton posted a video of Liza Minnelli giving an intoxicated performance in Sweden. A subsequent account using his name spelled backward was also deleted.

Perez Hilton confronted on alleged copyright violation

by Christian Grantham - 9:58 am December 19, 2007

As you now know, Perez Hilton’s channel was suspended on YouTube for alleged copyright violations. I did some digging and found this video of Perez Hilton being confronted by a photographer for even more alleged copyright violation. Watch as Perez demonstrates a typical attitude among some bloggers on use of copyrighted material.

Perez Hilton’s YouTube account suspended

by Christian Grantham - 1:54 pm December 18, 2007

Hollywood gossip Perez Hilton’s YouTube account has been suspended. Hilton says YouTube removed a Liza Minnelli video he posted on Monday because of copyright violation. Perez posted this video under a different account in response.

“I’m going to try not to get angry, or upset or raise my voice because thankfully I’ve already done enough of that without the camera rolling. My YouTube account was suspended. I’ve emailed YouTube, but I’ve yet to hear from any person there. I’ve just got an automated email from them.

Apparently, the Liza Minnelli video that I posted on Monday was in violation of someone’s copyright which is really confusing to me because the person who took the Liza Minnelli is a reader of my website gave me permission to use the clip and I still have mutliple emails from that person sending me the video and giving me permission to use it.

The only thing I can think of is someone at Liza Minnelli’s record company was upset that this video showing her being drunk or on drugs allegedly is out there and they wanted to get it removed from YouTube. Well, as a result my account was suspended.”

UPDATE 5:12p.m. - Now this video has been removed by YouTube with the following statement in its place: “This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.”

UPDATE 12-19-07 7:44a.m. - In part of the video I transcribed above (no longer available on YouTube), Perez Hilton claimed no one ever complained about copyright violations before the Liza Minnelli incident. This is not true. I alerted Perez Hilton on two violations prior to his account being suspended and got no response. One was for posting an entire segment of ABC’s daytime talk show The View. The other was for using Macy Gray’s music over a photo montage of his new dog.

UPDATE 12-20-07 - 2:49p.m. - Perez Hilton has returned to YouTube.

John Rich talks about upcoming reality TV show

by Christian Grantham - 5:37 pm December 15, 2007

I had the kosher weinerburger for lunch, and then swung by CMT with the Brad to catch up with his good friend John Rich of Big & Rich. John has a reality TV show coming up on CMT called Gone Country. In it, a few stars come to Nashville to try their hand at a career in country music.

Here is some video I shot where John talks about Bobby Brown urinating on Dee Snider. He also shows us his #1 selling t-shirt with a phrase his grandfather use to say.
