Today is what we think will be the last time we mow this year. We put down some lime on the lawn along with a bag of grass seed. We do this every Fall, including taking a few final pictures.

It’s always fun to look back through the landscape photos to see how much things have grown through the years.

• The Japanese helleries, Winter Gems, Sky Pencils, Green Mountain Boxwoods, and soft touch hollies were so tiny when we planted them in early 2006.
• The pin oaks really put on a lot of growth this year, too. We think they grew about 3 feet.
• The Sugar Maple looks like it’s put on about five feet of growth all around.
• The impatiens look like they’ve lasted way later than usual.
• While I like seeing the huge leaves of the cannas, I went ahead and chopped those down Saturday after we cleaned up and dismantled the vegetable garden plot.
• The soldier fly larvae in the organic waste compost bin are already slowing.
• The John Creech and Tri color sedum has really spread a lot this year.
• The Fire Star looks like it’s grown a lot since then.

In a matter of days, the weather will be dramatically different, and the leaves will quickly turn. The impatiens and hastas will have to be cut down and put onto the lawn compost pile.
