Pre-launch post

I’ve been pretty bad with keeping the endless stream of conscious coming in 140 characters or less, but I’m getting a lot more done by not allowing my addiction to knowing what you’re having for lunch get the best of me.

I’m hoping to launch one of the projects I’ve been working on tomorrow or Friday. It’s a site where I journal my encounters with select artists in Tennessee. The cool thing is you can also buy some of their handcrafted treasures through the website as well. 1 percent of the profits go to targeted projects in high poverty classrooms across Tennessee.

The website is called Stones River Company. It’s password protected right now so you can’t see the mess it is. You can follow my work there on Twitter @StonesRiverCo and subscribe to my YouTube channel.

On Christmas Eve I made the “trip to you know where” to visit a broom maker in Selmer, TN and was so moved by his craft and his story. Jack is an amazing guy who handmakes every single broom on a machine built by his great grandfather. Jack demonstrates his craft in his community and schools as well.

There are so many amazing artists throughout the state that are true hidden gems, and their works are equally as priceless. Jack is one of the artists I feature. You’ll also see the works of Tom Fuhrman and Carrie Nunes and many more through my discovery journal.

I’m doing my own video work until I can afford better, but I hope you enjoy discovering the hard working craftsman of Tennessee as much as I do. And the next time you consider a gift for a dear friend or loved one, take a look at the works of art made by your neighbors.

Let me know if there is someone you think I should visit. I want to thank Art Growden for the nice font work. I just ate a turkey sandwich, btw.
