A half an inch below the mulch in some places there was still a little ice from the snow and cold temperatures of Winter 2010. That will change with today’s temperatures.

I filled a tightly compressed five gallon bucket full of weeds from a few of the mulch beds early this morning.

The thing about weeds is you have to get them early, or they will take over everything. And if you leave the root just to make what you can see pretty, you’re leaving yourself more trouble.

There is something about digging in the dirt I really enjoy. There is something about the kind of work requiring you use your hands like tools that grounds the soul.
